You can get a very crisp evaluation of your question by renting the DVD “Sicko” by Michael Moore. It’s a documentary about the health care situation in America, with comparisons of other countries (your pros).

I WOULD SAY THE PROS ARE IT IS MUCH CHEAPER THAN HERE IN THE US, BUT A BAD CON IS YOU HAVE TO WAIT SO LONG TO SEE A DR OR TO HAVE AN OPERATION, SO I HAVE HEARD

There’s a great link on the coverage.

But keep in mind, if you’re at a public school, then your teacher is most likely a socialist, and will want to see something PRO a national health insurance program.

It absolutely is NOT cheaper elsewhere. Look up what the taxes are in these countries. Pay particular attention to Sweden…32% employer tax (compared to our 7.5%), high income tax, AND a 25% (yes twenty five) sales tax. It’s far more expensive everywhere else, AND you have to wait.

The only con is that people will think they don’t need coverage here and go without.

Thinking the gov’t can run anything properly is absurd.
